ByteMeter helps you see how much mobile data and Wi-Fi your apps use. This page explains how it handles that information.
What the app uses
With Usage Access enabled, ByteMeter reads network usage statistics from Android. These include mobile and Wi-Fi usage, upload and download totals, time periods, and the apps associated with that usage. The history available can vary between devices.
ByteMeter also looks up installed apps, including their package names, labels, and icons, so it can show which apps used data. It stores usage history, app information, and your settings on your device.
How your information is used
ByteMeter uses this information to show usage totals for the period and network you choose. It may also update stored history in the background. Your usage information stays on your device; ByteMeter does not upload it.
Permissions
ByteMeter needs Usage Access to read network statistics. You can grant or revoke it in Android settings. Without it, the app cannot show your usage. Turning it off does not delete information the app has already saved.
The app also checks installed packages to identify apps and system components in your usage results, including those without a launcher icon.
Deleting your data
You can clear ByteMeter’s data in Android settings or uninstall the app to remove the information it stores. This does not delete the network statistics Android keeps separately. ByteMeter disables Android app backup; device manufacturers may handle device transfers differently.
Other services
ByteMeter uses Android system services and may be distributed through Google Play. Those services have their own privacy policies. ByteMeter does not sell your usage information or use it for advertising.
Changes
This policy may change if the app changes. The date on this page will be updated when it does.
